Top 5 Features That Make a Great Yoga Mat
Your yoga mat is your number one workout buddy, for better or for worse. Above all, it has to suit you, yet still motivate you to hit the gym or studio on the days you need it most. Let's check out the top 5 features you don't want to compromise:
1. There is no excuse for unsustainable manufacturing as we are now aware of the damaging effects of PVC. We recommend choosing an eco-friendly option which is normally made from natural rubber.
2. Design is one feature that is overlooked, with whopping 97% of yoga mats being completely plain. Sure, you can find some simple shapes or a psychedelic design, but it is tough to come across something inspiring and not distracting.

3. Grip is arguably the most crucial feature of your yoga mat. Most injuries in yoga practice are caused by slipping, so make sure to always go for a strong grip that can withstand sweaty workouts.
4. It is certainly easier to travel with a light thin mat but it won't provide the thickness to guarantee comfort, especially on your knees. To ensure a pleasurable workout do not use a yoga mat thinner than 4mm, ideally 5mm with a solid cushion.
5. For most yogis it is great to look for a mat slightly longer than standard 68". From our research we concluded that the perfect length is 6ft (or 72"). This won't limit you in doing virtually any asana.
Revolutionary Artletica Yoga Mat Combines All The Must-Have Features.
The new line is a shaking up the industry.
“Throughout my [own] yoga practice,” founder Alex Vainer explains, “I found that most yoga mats were often plain and flavorless. The few mats that did have a design were of poor quality and hardly struck me with their charm. I was missing the artistic touch and creativity that a superb mat should encompass. Therefore, I embarked on a journey to create just that – an eco-friendly, high-quality exercise mat that was stunning in design.”
The mission of this new collection is to bring beauty and intention to your exercise experience, as told by the unique story behind each mat.
The designs were created in a competition featuring 400 artists with over a thousand submissions. With an overwhelming number of great concepts we narrowed down to the most balanced line that would be inspiring and not distracting. The new collection carries the inspiration of India and the Far East while also capturing the modern monochromatic concepts born in New York City.
The Machali and Hathi designs symbolize strength and power, the Tortuga for peace and the Koi, bravery. The final two, Pavo and Chol, inspire transformation and longevity.

What people are saying about us...
Sometimes finding the inspiration to practice yoga can be challenging. So I find different ways to ignite that fire within me. It usually involves throwing on some good music, drinking copious amounts of coffee and unrolling my beautiful Artletica yoga mat! As an artist, I love and appreciate things that are aesthetically pleasing. Not only is this mat beautiful, but it’s absolutely functional. It’s insanely grippy and eco-friendly! What more can you ask for?

My new mat from Artletica is really is the best mat I’ve ever practiced on... the texture feels amazing and I didn’t slip at all. I love how it has heaviness to it. You can just tell it’s top quality. I’ve practiced on Manduka (which everyone has) and I say I prefer Artletica. Goes without saying that it is also the most beautiful mat I’ve ever practiced on.
